Summary: The article describes the quantitative status and education level of secondary school teaching staff in the Słupsk voivodeship in years 1975-1991. After creating the Słupsk voivodeship as a result of the national administrative reform, the supervision over the school system was taken by the department of education in Słupsk directed by superintendent Leszek Rajmund Mąka. Matters of employing, educating and professional training as well as development of the teaching staff were one of major problems concerning the education policy at that time. Not everywhere the full number of the staff was secured in schools and educational institutions. The author stated that in the 1980s both the number of the employed teachers was important as well as the change of the teacher employment structure of the Słupsk voivodeship. The problem was caused by employing teachers without full qualifications in vocational education (most commonly lack of so-called pedagogical preparation among vocational training teachers), shortage of specialists (vocational theory teachers) and undoubtedly the common process of teaching feminisation. Another change of legal regulations concerning teacher employment was introduced after an enactment of the educational system decree by the Polish Parliament on 7th September 1991 (Journal of Laws No. 95 item 425), which forced an update of the rules applicable to education and qualifications of teachers employed in respective types of schools, preschools and educational institutions.
