Summary: The author, on the basis of the review article of this monograph, tried to present the attitudes of the region’s population towards the German-Soviet aggression in September 1939. The war that began on September 1, 1939 with the attack of the Third Reich on Poland, is presented in this monograph through the eyes of ordinary people representing various social strata, cultural and national groups. This symbolic study shows the heroism of the Polish soldier and civilian population, who spared no blood sacrifice in the fight against the overwhelming forces of the Wehrmacht and the Red Army in the defensive war of 1939.
