The topic of the article are the medical travels of Bishop Józef Stanisław Sapieha (1708–1754), described on the basis of the diary he wrote throughout almost his en tire life, as well as his correspondence with various people. The author presents the bishop’s reasons for traveling, the course of treatment, and the effects of the trips. It appears that only “taking the waters” in Aachen in 1740 made him feel much better. He considered the therapies in Warsaw to have very slight positive effects at best, even calling some of them a waste of time.
