Podczas 26. Konferencji Generalnej ICOM w Pradze w 2022 r. została przyjęta nowa definicja muzeum. Jednak dyskusje nad nią są znacznie starsze, a sięgając tylko do poprzedniej, 25. Konferencji Generalnej ICOM, która odbyła się w 2019 r. w Kioto, warto przypomnieć, że właś- nie tam doszło do nieudanej próby wprowadzenia nowej definicji muzeum, znacznie różniącej się od dotychczasowych. Artykuł dotyczy konsekwencji normatywnoprawnych przyjęcia nowej definicji muzeum przez ICOM. Możliwe jest bowiem implementowanie dorobku normatywnego ICOM do prawa krajowego. W tekście zawarto wnioski i spostrze- żenia tego dotyczące, choć finalnie prowadzą one do konkluzji, że aż tak wielkiego znaczenia nie ma literalne brzmienie samej definicji muzeum. Jeśli zaś wskazać tendencję, to jest nią poszerzanie zakresu nazwy, ale nie w sposób całkiem spontaniczny i dowolny. Abstract: During the 26th ICOM General Conference in Prague in 2022 a new museum definition was adopted. However, debates on it are much older, and while reaching merely the previous 25th ICOM General Conference held in Kyoto in 2019 let us recall that it was there that an aborted attempt at introducing the new museum definition, much differing from the current one, took place. It is the normative and legal consequences of the adoption of the new ICOM museum definition that are the subject of the paper. It is possible for the normative ICOM output to be implemented in the domestic legal regulations. Interpretations and observations related to the question are contained in the paper, however they finally lead to the conclusion that the literal wording of the museum definition as such is not of major importance. As for the tendency, this shows the extension of the name’s range although not conducted entirely spontaneously and freely.
