Summary: The cultural activity of Andrzej Zebrzydowski, the Bishop of Kujawy and Cracow, took various forms, such as the patronage of his mentors and teachers during his studies in Poland and abroad. This included financing dedications addressed to him in scientific works by professor of foreign universities, like J. Sichardus, or generous financial rewards for staying in the homes or dormitories of scholars, like Erasmus of Rotterdam in Basel or Lazarus Bonamico in Padua, during university studies. The bishop also undertook construction projects, such as the total reconstruction of a tenement house in Cracow in the new Renaissance style - dark and gloomy Gothic house were transformed into bright apartments. During his term as Bishop of Kujawy, he handled the construction of the portrait hall in the castle in Wolbórz. The decade as the Bishop of Cracow resulted in the reconstruction of the ruined palace in Prądnik, and also in the repair of the damages of the seat of the episcopal curia in Cracow, which began in 1551. In 1556 the most serious project was undertaken - the construction of castle in completely new location in bishop's hometown of Więcbork. Over the years the bishop also collected a valuable library, an effort worthy of the Age of Enlightenment. His scientific activity included shaping and promoting the Polish language. Funding academic scholarships for talented students at foreign universities he considered as an investment in the future of Kingdom. The social aspect of bishop’s patronage was funding dowries for poor noblewoman.
